February Critique

My concentration is characters inspired by the street, street art and the enviornment of the street. The first piece shown is a drawing that is wheatpasted to a painted lisence plate. I did this to show wheatepasting, without doing it on a wall. It is a drawing of a person, who has a somewhat "street style" to him, and I figured a lisence plate was pretty street like I guess, I'm not sure. The second one, is a graphic I made from a drawing of mine. I made the graphic on the computer, printed and wheat pasted it on a wall with lots of other "street style" art on it. I did it to show how much stronger a poster like that is than all the other art painted around it. Its a cool contrast. Its a fun concentration

I love your idea of using wheatpasting. It's a very unique form of art. But somehow, I'm not sure it really blends well with the liscence plate. Perhaps there's too much contrast between the two textures, and between the background and foreground? Overall, though, it's a really neat idea; I think you should expand on it!

for the first piece...........i would like to address the element of UNITY
the drawing is cool, very character-ish and it fits in your concentration
the license plate is quite a novel idea
but the two together don't mix.
wheat pasting sounds pretty cool, dont' know much about it, but just from looking at the piece i wouldn't have been able to tell that you had done something unusual by sticking the paper to the license plate, and the result is that the drawing looks a little thoughtlessly put on the license plate. The contrast between the paper and the license plate, metal, comes out a little weird. Perhaps if you had put more color into the drawing it wouldn't be so noticeable, like the drawing is paper and the license plate is metal.
Other than that little thing, I think all your pieces are working together; your style is staying pretty consistent, consistent enough to see that all your pieces are part of the same composition.

wow, whos that sexy mother on the liscence plate? i agree with sarah, the one with the sexy beast needs something to unify the background and the foreground. nice use of color though. the second one needs better placement on the wall. it looks nice though.the concentrations commin along nicely. keep up the hot shiat. peace out homie slicer.
